Our aim is simple: Give disabled and recovering
veterans something meaningful and enjoyable to do, something that will
stretch their minds while it stretches damaged limbs, something that
will provide same-day gratification and unlimited potential for future
enjoyment.
Our first project relates to Wounded Warriors,
Warrior Transition Units (WTUs) and a process we call "The TSG RecRehab"
program. This project centers on woodworking as our vehicle for Recreational
Rehabilitation ("RecRehab"). More specifically, we have chosen woodturning,
the creation of art and projects on a woodturning lathe.
The graphics in the left column are
proud reminders of our past: Army Aviator Wings and the
Combat Infantryman’s Badge. The graphics below are
our old division patches: the Screaming Eagle
of the 101st Airborne, the 1st Cav and the 4th Infantry.
They speak of service before and after our war . . . and too, remind
us of what we are doing now.
Men and women still fight, still die, still
come home healthy or wounded or disabled wearing those same patches and
badges and so many more like them. We owe them more than we can ever
repay and we know what it’s like to be them. Our lives have been
richly blessed and the only way we can demonstrate our gratitude is to
pay it forward. That is the entire reason for our endeavor.
